LIVE MUSIC - mostly JAZZ & Blues
Cellar Cat features live music four nights each week. All ticket sales go directly to the musicians and related expenses - licensing, perfomance-related insurance, musician perks - when ticket sales are low Cellar Cat subsidizes the live music. As such, we ask a $20 per person minimum for those enjoying the live music, to help us pay the rent, utilities, wages, and more. Without the minimum, there is no Cellar Cat and therefore no regular live music in Kingston.
Reservations on NON-TICKETED nights a great idea - [email protected] or 360-979-7925 - SRO is common, and with only 35 seats those seats have a $20 per person minimum (meaning, we pay the musicians, the rent, the bills & you spend at least - ideally more than - $20 to keep the music going. Libraries are free. Fresh air: free. Cellar Cat: can't afford free - to like us, to like live high-end jazz, is to support us and the MEWsicians. And tip them well too - bring cash!!). Ticket sales go to the musicians - purchases keep Cellar Cat open to provide the music and more. Please tip musicians (& wait cats) generously - and shop local. Keep the music alive. FIRST THURSDAYS AT CELLAR CAT!! WINE-KNOW.JOIN US first Thursdays of the remaining 2024 months of October, November & December and taste with CORK DORK Holly Evans-White, she of the big wine resume.
Make sure you are on the email list as our regulars, folks on the mailing list, are the first invited to these special, educational tastings that, if you have met us, are too fun but you will still leave wine-smarter than before. 95% of all Cellar Cat wines are small production and unlikely to be seen anywhere outside of a fine dining restaurant, winery, wine shop or wine bar. Now that the jazzzz is flowing smoothly we can turn our attention to that thing we've been doing all of our adult lives: WINE! |

HOW WINE WORKS - class numero dos -Nov. 7th, 5:30 p.m.
How does wine work? Standing in a big box store or presented with a wine menu at a restaurant, "how wine works" may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but to really KNOW wine at all, to be able to face a restaurant sommelier or a wine shop steward, knowing how wine works, from harvest to cellar to market, makes all the difference.
Wine is a simple beverage that over time has grown wildly complex.
The primary goal of Cellar Cat's introduction to HOW WINE WORKS is to help existing wine enthusiasts gain a working understanding of what the wine fan is looking at when they look at a bottle of wine or a wine list.
In Class TWO we will continue with HOW WINE WORKS by focusing on red wine. Class three we will, in honor of the holidays, do sparkling wine/champagne (bubbles).
In addition to getting first dibs on subsequent classes, those in attendance at these three Thursday classes will also have free admission (for the attendee only) to the evening's live ticketed jazz performance that beginas at 7 p.m., immediately after the class. So you want to be a wine-know? Join me.
